How Tequila is Made

There are two main types of tequila: 100% agave tequila, which is made solely from blue agave, and mixto tequila, which is made from a combination of blue agave and other sugars.
Types of
- Blanco Tequila - Bottled immediately following distillation, some are aged for a short period of time.
- Reposado Tequila - Tequila aged between 2 to 12 months in oak barrels.
- Joven Tequila - A mixture of Blanco and Reposado tequilas.
- Añejo Tequila - Tequilas aged between 1 to 3 years in oak barrels. Extra Añejo is aged 3 years or more.
- Mixto Tequila - Tequila containing less than 100% blue agave, usually mixed with sugars or other spirits.
